Define your Product

So, you have an idea for a new product, or perhaps you’ve identified a need or gap in the market. Maybe you don’t have all the details figured out yet, but you’ve got to start somewhere.

Abstract Structure

We Build Ideas

At PrecisionMade we help businesses, entrepreneurs and inventors focus ideas into opportunities and expand their product portfolios. We’re experts at developing innovative products.

Product Brief

There is no better place to start than with a PrecisionMade product brief. The product brief brings your ideas into focus and defines what is important to the final product. The brief also sets a product launch target; a goal for when you would like to have your product fully completed, and ready to ship. If you want to maximize the value your product adds, and avoid costly “mission creep”, you want a PrecisionMade Product Brief.

Preliminary Quality Requirements

In the early stages we focus on simple requirements, like: In what states/countries is this product planned for sale? We also set estimates for functional standards as well. How many pounds does it hold? What temperatures will it encounter? etc.… We won’t get into anything too complicated yet; this is only “preliminary” after all.

 Market Survey

Does your product have competition? What could I sell it for? Who will buy it? How many will I need to make? Where will I sell it? All important questions that should be answered to ensure the feasibility of your product. We’ve conducted market surveys on products made for Retail, e-commerce, and direct-to-consumer. The way you plan to sell your product makes a big difference in design and manufacturing decisions down the line.

Initial Concept Design

Initial Concepts can include sketches, mood/inspiration boards, or even simple text descriptions of the functions of the product. If it is more efficient to define the concept with CAD, we can help with simple CAD drafts. Concept design is less about making specific design decisions, and more about narrowing down the possibilities. In this stage, you only need a general idea of where your product is headed cosmetically and functionally.

With the answer to a few simple questions, you can quickly be on your way to Step Two: Feasibility Study.
